Free Car Seat Inspection at Bronx Safety City

Location: 837 Brush Avenue, Bronx, NY
Time: 2 P.M.
Information: Learn how to install a car seat properly. A trained child passenger safety technician will inspect your car seat and booster seat to make sure you have installed it properly, facing the right direction, and that it’s age/height appropriate for the child using it. A personal demonstration will be given on how to install.

Vulture Culture: A Live Bird Presentation at Wave Hill

Location: West 249th Street & Independence Avenue, Bronx, NY

Information: Often misunderstood, vultures and other scavengers are essential members of nature’s clean-up crew, eating dead animals and halting the spread of dangerous diseases. Observe vultures and other scavenging birds of prey and hear about their adaptive behaviors with Brian Robinson of Robinson Wildlife Lectures.

Free Nuyorican Jazz at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church

Information: An all-star band of Bronx Arts Ensemble teaching artists perform new arrangements of Nuyorican jazz legends. This concert honors the Bronx history of Latin Jazz, celebrating the songs that were turning points in the creation of the genre and the most important figures in the movement.

Riverdale Park Tree Planting Volunteer with the Stewardship Team!

Location: Spaulding Lane Parking Lot at Palisade Avenue & Spaulding Lane, Bronx, NY
Time: 9 A.M.      
Information: Trees provide so many benefits to New Yorkersr such as improved air and water quality and reduce pollution. Volunteers will be trained in proper planting techniques. Come dressed in sturdy boots or shoes, and clothing that can get dirty. Please bring your own water bottle. *Space is limited*. Registration is required.

Super Steward Treebed Planting Day to be held at West Farms MTA Bus Terminal             

Location: 1100 East 177th Street, Bronx, NY
Time: 11 A.M. 
Information: Participants will weed out tree beds and plant pollinator – friendly native perennials, while engaging the community and meeting new friends. Light refreshments will be provided. Please bring a reusable water bottle and dress for the weather.

Family Art Project: The Walking Snag at Wave Hill

Information: Is your bark peeling? Are there bugs at your roots? Is there fungus among us? Which decomposers lurk within? Once a tree has lived its life, it either falls and becomes a log in the forest or a snag-standing dead tree. Join a parade of walking snags to celebrate our decomposer friends.
