BP Diaz to Announce $1 Million in Funding for Camp Junior

It is Opening Day for Camp Junior at the Madison Square Boys and Girls Club in the Belmont section. Named after Lesandro "Junior" Guzman-Feliz, the 14-year-old who died as a result of gang violence in a case of mistaken identity, the 2-week free sleep away camp located at Harriman State Park looks to provide Bronx kids with outdoor activities while educating them on gang and violence prevention. Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz, Jr., Leandra Feliz the mother of Lesandro "Junior" Guzman-Feliz and his father Lisandro Guzman joined New York State Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie and the Executive Director of the Fresh Air Fund, Fatima Shama to announce the launch of the camp which features four 14 day sessions spaced out over the summer.
