Today’s Verdict: Study on School Attendance, New Bill to End Substance Abuse, Youthful Offender Bill

Host David Lesch talks to Jennifer Pringle, director of Advocates for Children, about a recent study about how inadequate resources and poor conditions in shelters have impacted school attendance of students who live in shelters and of students who live in their primary homes. Next, Luis Sepulveda, State Senator of the 32nd Senate District, is here to discuss the current passing of a legislation that will give annual reports of substance abuse among incarcerated individuals in the process of prison reform and providing a substantial life after incarceration. Finally, Assemblymember Alicia Hyndman of the 29th District, is here to talk about the Youthful Offender Bill that will change the status of young offenders who were initially denied youthful offender status and how it can provide more opportunities for the youth.
