Bronx Film Wednesdays: August 4, 2021

Luz in Latin America, the first feature film by director Amanda Nemcik, is the inspiring account of international bodyboarding star Luz ‘Loly’ Grande—a young woman on a personal mission to make bodyboarding a means to improve the lives of disadvantaged children in Puerto Rico, Argentina, Brazil, and Peru. Alternating between interviews with Loly and scenes of her interacting with children on the beach, the film tells the origins of bodyboarding and its subsequent development as an extreme sport with a multicultural profile. Also featuring other pioneers and champions of bodyboarding from the Americas! Bronx Film Wednesdays (BxFW) is a monthly series showcasing indie films that you will love! Travel the world and open your mind to stories as wild and from as far as the imagination goes! Starting last fall, BxFW offers its free screenings online and at home on cable tv channels of BronxNet Community Television!
