Host Dr. Despina Afentouli interviews Miltiadis Afentoulis, a multi-awarded iconographer of Greek descent, currently living in New York. Miltiadis Afentoulis is a second-generation iconographer, as his father, Vasileios Afentoulis, a master iconographer, was his mentor on traditional Byzantine Iconography and together they decorated more than twenty Churches. After 25 years of co-operation, Mr. Afentoulis followed a solo career as an iconographer, icon-painting numerous Churches. Mr. Afentoulis is a member of the Chamber of Fine Arts of Greece and is known for his large scale murals. Mr. Afentoulis specializes in the icon-painting of Orthodox Churches, cleaning-preservation of iconographies, gold-plating of wall-paintings, portable icons, and eikonostasia. Mr. Afentoulis has already decorated Greek Orthodox Churches in New York. This episode is mainly taking place at Saint Peter the Apostle Greek Orthodox Church in Riverdale in the Bronx, NY- one of the Churches he has icon-painted original work.
