A Day of Remembrance | Bronx Currents

Bronx Currents A Day of Remembrance 2013. A Day of Remembrance 2013, the official Bronx 9/11 memorial service took place at Lou Gehrig Plaza (corner of Grand Concourse and East 161st Street) on Friday September 13th. Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. stated 'We will always remember those innocent hard working people who perished in the attacks. I offer my condolences to the families of the victims of 9/11 and as time passes we will never forget those brave and innocent lives lost.' 'While we think of today as a day of remembrance, it is in so many ways a day of reaffirmation... reaffirmation that we share that common thread, that terrible sense that when we lose a loved one, we are united because each of us, no matter what our color, no matter what our faith, no matter what our belief, share that terrible sense, that terrible loss, when one we saw in the morning is no longer there in the night,' said the Honorable Douglas E. McKeon, Administrative Judge, Bronx Supreme Court Civil Term. The ceremony featured performances by the All-Girl String Orchestra of the Bronx Global Learning Institute for Girls
