BronxNet Videography Intern - Undergraduate (Spring 2022) 

Company Overview 

BronxNet is the public service multimedia network of the people of the Bronx. BronxNet TV broadcasts news, health awareness updates, voter literacy programs including debates and forums, educational content, and more across a range of programs without interruption. BronxNet programs broadcast on channels 67-70, 951 and 952 on the Optimum cable system and 2133-2138 on Verizon FiOS and are live streamed via BronxNet.tv. 

Opportunity Overview 

Videography is the process of shooting or covering an event. In layman’s terms, they’re the cameraman/woman following the reporter. They’re responsible for transporting and setting up equipment at each shoot as well ensuring that the lighting, position and overall shoot is the best quality possible. Some videographers will have post-production responsibilities, such 

as editing the footage; however, at BronxNet, videographers are only responsible for shooting and forwarding footage to the BronxNet drive for editors to access. 

This is an in-person internship as you will have to learn how to operate our cameras in person. You will be assigned to one of our videographers who will teach you how to operate our camera; and you’ll also be shadowing our videographers on their assigned shoots. Eventually, you’ll be the videographer for the event while your trainer supervises your work. 

As a Videography Intern, you will: 

● You will meet with your Videography Trainer twice a week at the BronxNet Studios for 1-2 hours during a day and time that best suits both of your availability to train in camera. This will be your schedule for the next 3 weeks of the internship. 

● You will then shadow your Videography Trainer on shoots that they’re assigned to twice a week. ● Figuring out what type of equipment to use 

● Cleaning and disassembling hardware 

● Setting up and tearing down cameras, audio recorders, lighting, microphones, and props 

Qualifications: 

● Passion—they have to be all about getting the shot 

● Manual dexterity, physical mobility, and some physical strength/stamina 

● Creativity and attention to detail 

● Organization to manage their time efficiently 

● Flexibility and good listening skills 

● Enough patience to wait for the perfect shot 

● Accountable and punctual individual committed to this internship 

● Excellent communications skills, both written and oral 

● Ability to work in a team-oriented environment 

● Positive and enthusiastic attitude with a willingness to succeed 

● College freshman-senior majoring in TV, Film, Media, Communications or a related major 

*Disclaimer: Lehman College recently implemented a rule dictating that only Lehman College Staff, students and BronxNet staff are only allowed on campus as a result of COVID-19 safety guidelines. That is, the opportunity is for Lehman College students until these restrictions are lifted. 

*Training will be in-person in the BronxNet Studios on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings. In-the-field training/shoots twice a week on Saturday, Monday, Thursday or Friday. A set time will be established after having been offered the internship.

Additional Information: 

This role is an unpaid internship for college credit. The internship will commence on the week of Monday, February 14, 2022 and run through Friday, May 13, 2022 and the intern will be expected to work 10 hours per week. The exact schedule and hours will be determined with the finalist. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this internship will operate in a fully remote capacity.
