Branch Dances | Andorra Woods.

Merian Soto's Branch Dances were performed throughout the year at beautiful Wave Hill in the Bronx. BronxNet documented the Branch Dances across the seasons and is producing programs about the series.

Merián Soto is one of the Founding Artistic Directors of Pepatián, the Bronx-based, multi-disciplinary Latino arts organization. In that capacity, she developed, curated and produced numerous projects featuring new works by emerging Latino dance and performance artists. Bessie Award winner Merián Soto's work has been presented across the US and internationally since the mid '80s. She is Associate Professor and MFA Coordinator of the Department of Dance at the Esther Boyer College of Music and Dance at Temple University.

"The basic task is to connect with the branch through touch. You sense the shape, weight, and flow of the branch and respond physically. A dancer has got it when they can hook in quickly into a zone—they move seamlessly, the balance is impeccable, they move through impossible places, their dance is poetic, evocative." - Merián Soto,
