CUNYAC 2014 Basketball Championship Game

CUNYAC 2014 Basketball Championship Game The 2014 CUNYAC Community College Men's and Women's Finals will see two champions tonight with the women's game beginning at 6:00pm and the men's beginning no earlier than 8:30pm. Top-seeded Queensborough takes on the #3 Broncos from the Bronx in the women's final. Queensborough is returning to the big game for the first time since 2011 while this is the first time the Broncos have reached the final since starting their program in 2011-12. On the men's side, it is a battle of the Bronx with #6 nationally ranked Hostos taking on Bronx. The top-seeded Caimans are looking for their first title since 2008 while the Broncos are looking for a four-peat.

On February 20, 2014, Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. presented a riveting State of the Borough address at Hostos Community College. Bronx residents were able to experience the entire address, live on BronxNet channels and viewers from all over the world tuned in via www.bronxnet.org.

“Our production team documented Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz’ important and informative State of the Borough address, to share with Bronx viewers and with people from around the world who are interested in the borough’s growth,” says BronxNet Executive Director Michael Max Knobbe.

The address is the first for the borough president’s new term and his fifth since taking office in 2009.

The Inauguration of Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz BBP Ruben Diaz J.r On January 9, 2014, Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. was joined by local elected officials as well as business and community leaders for his inauguration ceremony and the official kick off of Bronx County’s centennial celebration. The ceremony featured the swearing-in of the Borough President and the entire Bronx City Council delegation, a historical nod to the first swearing-in that took place when Bronx County was created in 1914.

As the one year anniversary of Jyoti, the Indian gang-rape victim approaches, Price of Silence has been invited by Lehman college clubs, to host a vigil and speak out in her memory and to raise awareness and consciousness of the daily violence impacting women and girls locally, nationally and across the world.
