World Renowned Cuban Pianist Dayramir Gonzalez On Bronxnet

Attention: open in a new window. PDFPrintE-mail

High school students recently got the opportunity to interview world-renowned Cuban Pianist Dayramir Gonzalez on their very own TV program, OPEN 2.0. The talented musician also sat down with BronxNet Show Host Ramon Rodriguez to share information about his life and work on the new international BronxNet program, OPEN World.

Dayramir, the first Cuban national to attend the prestigious Berklee School of Music in Boston on a full scholarship, began studying piano in Havana at the tender age of eight. He has worked with the group Diakara, created by Master Percussionist Oscar Valdez and he composes and plays classical jazz, blended with today’s contemporary musical styles.

In addition to being the subject of their interview, Dayramir performed three songs and generously gave the entire OPEN 2.0 high school production crew some quick lessons in basic piano.

The OPEN World special featuring Dayramir Gonzalez will be telecast on BronxNet Channel 67 on Cablevision and on BronxNet Channel 33 on Verizon FiOS on: Monday, April 16, at 7:00 p.m.; Thursday, April 19 at 6:00 p.m.; and Friday, April 20 at 7:30 p.m. OPEN World features universal themes that connect us globally through our local lens.

The Emmy-nominated youth program OPEN 2.0 with Dayramir Gonzalez, hosted by high school students will be telecast on BronxNet Channel 67 on Cablevision and on BronxNet Channel 33 on Verizon FiOS on: Monday, April 16 at 4:30 p.m.; Tuesday, April 17 at 7:30 p.m.; and Friday, April 20 at 4:30 p.m. Both programs will also be streamed online during the hours mentioned at www.bronxnet.tv
