BronxNet 5k Fitness Run A Letter From Michael Max Knobbe
A Letter From Michael Max Knobbe

Dear Friends and Neighbors:

As we continue to work to enhance our services, including public access to technology, workforce development training, studios, and TV channels you can participate in a multitude of ways. Public service, education, and community engagement are manifest in BronxNet programs like BronxTalk. This year marks 20 years of BronxTalk on the channels of the people of the Bronx. You are welcome to join BronxTalk host Gary Axelbank and the BronxNet team this Wednesday evening 10/22 at 8pm at the Andrew Freedman Home to celebrate 20 years of dialogue and debate around important issues such as environment, health, education, housing and more as we build community together.

Restoration, storm resiliency and maintenance efforts are ongoing on the beloved Van Cortlandt Park cross-country trail. Run for the Trail this Sunday 10/26 as the Van Cortlandt Park Conservancy in partnership with the Van Cortlandt Track Club, Friends of Van Cortlandt Park, CUNYAC and BronxNet hold the BronxNet Fitness Halloween Weekend 5K Run. Best Times + Best Costumes are awarded prizes including Lloyd's Carrot Cake baked goods. The 5K run and kids' fun run start at 12:30pm. Visit http://www.vcpark.org/programs/run-for-the-trail-series.html to find out more. OPEN Host Rhina Valentin's first organized run was this race in 2013, and one year later she has completed two half marathons and is readying for the NYC marathon.

There's still time for Bronx residents to join BronxNet media field production classes taking place Saturdays at the Andrew Freedman Home, located at 1125 Grand Concourse. Camera operation, sound acquisition, editing, digital storytelling and production topics are covered in the hands-on course. Participants who complete the workshops have full access to BronxNet's production equipment and to time slots on BronxNet channels to air their independent programs. Registration takes place weekdays, through October 24th. Come in to BronxNet offices at Lehman College, Carman Hall, Room C4 or call (718) 960-1189 for more information. BronxNet is your open work: www.bronxnet.tv.
