LAWRENCE SEILER'S BIO
Lawrence Seiler is a graduate of the CUNY New York. He has two college degrees despite his disability (AA from LaGuardia Community College and a BA from Lehman College in Media and Multilingual Journalism). Mr. Seiler became intrested in communications at LaGuardia Community College, when he started hosting the "Power Hour," a top 40 music show at the college student radio station, WLGC 590AM . It also featured motivational speakers from the educational community. He graduated with a degree in childhood education in 1995.
In 1996, Mr. Seiler enrolled at Lehman College to pursue what he thought would be a degree in social work, but it became something else. He started working on WHLC Lehman College radio doing top 40 hits. His show was called the "Doctor Love Show" where he played love songs and gave relationship advice. In 1997, Mr. Seiler came to Bronxnet with a vision to be on television and educate people. He started on the Bronxnet airwaves as a public access producer. He produced "Stink Witness News", a news program of comedy and skits related to news. In 1998, Lawrence Seiler met former news director, JJ Gonzalez who changed his life. Mr. Seiler started producing segments for Bronxnet's news 67 on issues related to the special needs community. Mr. Seiler saw an opportunity to start producing what is now known as Special People Special Issues (SPSI).
Mr. Seiler, who has been broadcasting SPSI since 1998 can also be seen as a reporter for Open. He is an award winning host that also mentors and teaches television production through the CUNY Youth Transition Demonstration Project. The students that he mentors work as production assistants on SPSI in various positions such as graphics and script writing.
